Just take the advice
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.
If my kids were in a situation where they are stressed, tired, overloaded, unsure—what would I tell them to do?
Would I tell them to take on more?
To push through at the expense of their health or peace?
To keep going faster at the risk of the wheels falling off?
Of course not.
I’d say:
Take a breath.
Ask for help.
Trust God.
Make a decision that lines up with who you’re becoming—not just what you're afraid to lose.
But, most of us don’t take the advice we’d give our kids.
We tell them to have faith—but we worry ourselves sick.
We tell them not to chase approval—but we build our lives around what others think.
We tell them to stand firm—but we bend under pressure to keep the peace.
It’s not because we’re hypocrites. It’s because we forget this simple fact... We’re God’s kids too.
And if we believe our children are worthy of rest, grace, and wisdom—then so are we.
So next time you’re at a crossroads, don’t ask, “What should I do?” Ask, “What would I tell my kids to do in this situation?”
Then do that. Because sometimes the advice you need to hear is the advice you’d give.
"If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!" — Matthew 7:11
